SESSIONS

INTERACTIVE MUSIC SERIES

A DIALOGUE ON WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A MINORITY IN AMERICA TODAY  + Q & A

DIALOGUE LP FRONT COVER.png

Pianist/Soul Singer Aaron Abernathy has ushered in a plethora of very important conversations on his latest album titled "Dialogue." His ability as an artist to express his vulnerabilities as an American black man in 2017 through discussing hot-button issues of economics, segregation, and racial politics is timely and essential in this social climate. In a world where people use music and entertainment as a means to escape, Abernathy uses it as a tool that gives you something enjoyable and encouraging to help you grow, overcome, and conquer life's obstacles versus evading them. He views his music as books and uses his platform to enlighten, discuss, and find resolution within himself in order to teach others.

As the grand nephew of civil rights activist Rev. Ralph David Abernathy, the partner and best friend of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Abernathy is aware of history as well as the times we live in. This awareness has the Howard University graduate embarking on an interactive music series tour that had it's inaugural session in November at Sirius XM in Washington DC.  These session support his album Dialogue by having open dialogues to discuss the lyrical content that he sings about on the release.

This album not only elevates his race but bring a level of understanding to humanity. The goal of the interactive music session is to not only talk about what's going on in different communities across this country but to dig deeper on why it's going on. Abernathy is invested in making us become more aware of social stereotypes and standards as well as the impact it has on the internal dialogues they have with themselves to justify their daily thoughts and actions. Through thought provoking conversations and Q & A,  Abernathy will impact our future leaders to grow in understanding during this series by giving them a different view of the historical stories they've been told that influence them internally, contemporarily, and futuristically. We're hoping your University or College is willing to be a part of the dialogue.
