Another Monday and a great one at that. I’ve received word from Black Milk that after we tour Europe we’ll be spending two consecutive weekends performing in Canada!! Definitely looking forward to both tours!
I haven’t given you “A Shot of Soul” in about a month and a half so it’s only right that I come back strong! My man Slimkat78 sampled today’s “shot of soul” for my favorite record off that incredible “Diamond District” album titled “Off The Late Night.” My brother hit me on Friday and told me he found the sample and I had to hear it! I’m a music junky and I must say that this group out of Chicago that goes by the name of “Windy City” got some Heat!!!!
I apologize for being out of touch. I’ve Been on the road touring with Black Milk promoting his new album titled “Album of The Year” and in the studio working on new music!! I can’t wait to share my new material with all of you.
For now enjoy these clips from my show with Black Milk at The Roxy this past Sunday in L.A. and check the European dates for our upcoming tour.
It’s been a minute since I dropped in on ya’ll as I’ve been working diligently on a couple of things. I’m glad to say that I am a part of one of the most anticipated hip hop albums of the year delivered by “Black Milk” this past Tuesday. The name of his latest effort is “Album of The Year.” I will add one of the songs I’m featured on to the music player next week!!
For now enjoy these pictures shot by Mass De La MassCorp from Tuesday nights album release party at in Brooklyn, New York @ Southpaw. Hip hop notables Talib Kweli, Jay Electronica, Rah Digga, Jean Grae, Pharoah Monch, Sean Price, El Zhi, Guilty Simpson, Ill Mind, Sky Zoo, and many more were in the building to watch myself, Daru Jones (drums), and Malik Hunter (bass), back up Black Milk as he performed new material for the first time. Pick up Black Milk’s album at www.blackmilk.biz and support us all!!!
I was talking with my father in the early AM last night while I was in the lab working and he brought a classic record to my attention that got a lot of spins on his record player in the city of Cleveland during my up bringing. The harmonies in the background matched with the strong lead, instrumentation, and lyrics makes Wild Flower by New Birth a classic!
Tuesday night was full of energy as I performed at SOB’s on the bandstand with Daru Jones (Drums) and Malik Hunter (Bass) backing hip hop producer/MC, “Black Milk.” On Monday I posted the trailer of his upcoming album titled “Album Of The Year” in which my vocals were featured on a record from the album titled “Welcome.” Check out the our live performance of “Welcome” in NYC.
It’s been a minute but I’ve been working. My family Slum Village released there Album “Villa Manifesto” last week!!! I’m featured on two tracks “Dance” and “We’ll Show You.” In addition, I wrote and arranged Dwele’s vocals for the record titled “Don’t Fight The Feeling.” Please go out and support this project.
Also,
I’ve been working with Black Milk on his upcoming release titled “Album of the Year.” He released an official trailer last week that features me on vocals.
Life is full of transitions and with every one there is an unfamiliar area that we must enter. The last six weeks of my life have been transitional and in this period It has been up to me to turn an obstacle into a stepping stone or let it remain as an obstacle I can’t get over. I believe that adversity is a catalyst that shows us our character and leaves us to make decisions that will determine our outcome. This period has shown me some things about myself that I’ve never noticed and that I’m working diligently to change. With change comes giving some things up from our past to enhance the quality of our character and being in order to make our future better.
Amel Larrieux captures that feeling oh so well . . . . . .
I remember this weekend so vividly. There was a huge snow storm and I got stuck in Detroit. I recorded 22 hours straight with Black Milk then Slum Village, then 14kt and got on a plane the next morning. Here is some of the footage of me recording with Slum Village for there upcoming LP “Villa Manifesto”
